Lagun-ahhh!
Laguna Beach goes down in my book as one of the very few “Heaven on Earth” places in the world. Each and every time I have visited (here & here) my mood is boosted, I feel happy and carefree, and when it comes time to leave I find myself instantly longing for the next time I’ll be back.
There is an amusement park feel to it, where everyone seems to be on vacation and therefore jubilant. Families are picnicking, swimming, and strolling, there are cute, whimsical shops and cafes, and it’s all squeezed into a relatively compact, walkable area. And oh yes, the sun is always shining. It is southern California, after all.
During my previous visits to Laguna I strolled and snapped photos but didn’t go into the water. This time I had a mission: after over a month spent living in the desert I was going in! The water was F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G and the waves huge, especially since I’ve now become spoilt with too many visits to the warm, still and crystal clear waters of the Caribbean and Mediterranean, but it turned out to be entirely refreshing and fun.
