In my last post I shared some pictures of the many dogs and cats I came to know and love through the world of house and pet sitting. In this post I’d like to share some of my favorite U.S. house sits. From the mountains to the desert to the beach, I’m able to say I’ve done it all, and I have so many great memories, places and people forever now in my heart.
I spent two months apartment and cat sitting in the small mountain town of Livingston, Montana. The apartment was originally a hotel built in the 1800’s for the railroad travelers en route to Yellowstone National Park. Due to sitting in an apartment building, I made fast friends with the other renters and ended up having one of the best, most memorable experiences ever thanks to them. Read more about the town and my stay here.
Joshua Tree, California
My very first house sit was a small artist’s homestead located on 5 acres in Joshua Tree, California, only a few miles from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. I subsequently fell in love with the town of Joshua Tree and have been back numerous times now and have created my own guide to the area. See it here.
Ojo Sarco, New Mexico
Another all-time favorite was the time I spent in an adobe mountain home in Ojo Sarco, New Mexico, with four dogs and two cats miles from civilization. Read more about it here.
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Years later I would sit for the same family in their Santa Fe, New Mexico country home. Still four dogs and two cats, but two horses as well!
San Clemente, California
Ah, southern California steps from the beach. San Clemente, California definitely makes the list of favorites. I spent five weeks here in a beautiful beach condo with two cats. I have yet to write a full review on the amazing town of San Clemente, but it’s in the pipeline. Stay tuned!
The Hills, California
Finally, while only being a short week, I loved being able to add a Hollywood Hills home to my list, home of a screenwriter and comedian couple, their sports cars and their sweet pit-bull and those amazing hill-top views.
I hope in time there will be even more amazing house sits to add to the list, and I’ve got my eyes on exploring overseas next. Interested in joining the wonderful world of house and pet sitting? Read my post on how to do it here.
